Narek: Yerevan has added over 30 co-working spaces in the last 18 months. That's remarkable for a city of one million people. I went to seven of them last month for research and I want to share what I found. Narek: First, the geography. There are two emerging clusters. The first is around the Northern Avenue and Republic Square area — this is the more corporate cluster, attracting established companies and remote workers who want professional settings. The second, and more interesting from a startup perspective, is in Nor Nork and the Malatia-Sebastia districts — cheaper rents, rougher edges, but that's where a lot of the early-stage founders are. Narek: The quality gap between spaces is enormous. The best — places like Impact Hub Yerevan and Smartex — are genuinely competitive with good co-working in London or Berlin. Excellent internet, proper desks, good coffee. The worst are glorified spare rooms with one shared computer and spotty WiFi. When you're choosing a Yerevan base, do your homework. Narek: The most interesting thing I found: three co-working spaces have integrated services — legal, accounting, HR — specifically designed for startups. You rent a desk and you get access to advisors. That's a model I haven't seen done well in most Western markets. It reflects that the infrastructure is being built for founders who are doing everything for the first time, not for seasoned remote workers who know exactly what they need.
