Getting Started

Getting Started with GeraCast

From account creation to your first episode live on Spotify — here is everything you need to get going.

1

Create your GeraCast account

Go to geracast.com and click "Get Started". Sign up with your email address or log in with Google. Choose a display name for your podcast account — this will appear on your public podcast profile. You can start on the free plan immediately; no credit card required.

2

Upload your first episode

From your dashboard, click "New Episode" and then "Upload Audio". GeraCast supports MP3, MP4 (audio only), WAV, M4A, OGG, and FLAC files up to 2GB. Drag and drop your file or select it from your device. You will see an upload progress bar — large files may take a few minutes depending on your connection.

Tip: For best transcription accuracy, upload audio that has been edited (background noise removed, volume normalised). Raw recordings work too, but clean audio gives ~5% better accuracy.

3

GeraCast auto-transcribes your episode

Once the upload is complete, GeraCast automatically runs AI transcription in the background. For most episodes, transcription completes in 2–5 minutes (roughly 1 minute of processing per 10 minutes of audio for clear recordings). You will receive a notification when it is ready. You do not need to stay on the page.

4

Review and edit the AI-generated show notes

When transcription is complete, open the episode editor. You will see the full AI-generated package: a plain-English episode summary, key points in bullet form, timestamps with topic labels, notable quotes, and a list of topics covered. Review each section — the AI is highly accurate for clear audio but may need corrections for proper nouns, technical terms, or strong accents. Edit directly in the text fields.

5

Add episode details

Fill in the episode title (the AI will suggest one based on the content — you can use it or write your own), episode description (for podcast directories), season and episode numbers, and any tags or categories. Upload a cover image for this episode, or use your podcast's default cover. A well-written title and description significantly improve discoverability on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and in search engines.

6

Publish to your RSS feed

Click "Publish Episode". Your episode is immediately added to your GeraCast RSS feed. Your RSS feed URL is found in Settings → Distribution. You can also download the full episode package (audio file + show notes + metadata) as a ZIP to host elsewhere.

7

Submit your RSS feed to Spotify and Apple Podcasts

You only need to do this once — after the first submission, new episodes automatically appear on these platforms when you publish on GeraCast.

Frequently asked questions

Can I import an existing podcast from another hosting platform?
Yes. Go to Settings → Import Podcast and enter your existing RSS feed URL. GeraCast imports all your existing episodes, artwork, and metadata. Your current RSS feed continues to work during the transition, and you can redirect it to GeraCast's RSS when you are ready.
How long does AI transcription take?
Roughly 2–5 minutes for a 30-minute episode with clear audio. Long episodes (2+ hours) may take up to 15 minutes. Transcription runs in the background — you will receive an email and in-app notification when it is ready.
What if the AI transcription is inaccurate?
Accuracy is typically ~95% for clear, single-speaker audio in English. Accuracy decreases with heavy accents, multiple overlapping speakers, or lots of background noise. You can edit the transcription and show notes directly in the episode editor. You can also re-run transcription if the first result is poor.
How do I set up my podcast's brand (name, artwork, description)?
Go to Settings → Podcast Settings. Here you set your podcast name (appears on all directories), tagline, full description, category (used by Spotify/Apple to classify your podcast), language, and default cover art. These are used as defaults for every episode.
Can I schedule episodes to publish in the future?
Yes. After reviewing your episode, click the arrow next to "Publish" and select "Schedule". Choose a date and time. The episode will be automatically added to your RSS feed at that exact time.
Is there a limit on how many episodes I can upload?
The free plan allows up to 5 episodes per month with a 500MB storage limit. The Creator plan (paid) includes unlimited episodes and 50GB storage. The Team plan includes unlimited episodes and 200GB storage with multi-user access.
